So you have turned over all the rocks in your own hometown, state or province, and you have been unable to find a good piece of rattan furniture for your home or garden.

What are your next options? You could try to go to another source, but the likelihood of running into the same trouble as before is great. Or, you could go straight to the country of origin and find a rattan furniture exporter, who is skilled and adept at finding high quality furnishings at good value. But if you are planning on doing business with an exporter, there are some things that you need to do to protect yourself on the front end. What kind of things? Consider the following:

1. Check with the embassy or consulate.

Your country has an embassy or consulate in the Indonesian countries where rattan gets its origin. In fact, depending on where you live, you may have an embassy or consulate in every continent and most countries of the world at large. Since you know these people to be reputable and endorsed by your own government, you can use them as a channel for research. They can tell you who the reputable exporters are. Even after you get the list of names, however, you're still not out of the woods. Now it's time to contact and see what is available.

2. Comparison shop.

To get the best price, you have to shop around. Exporters are going to want top dollar at first contact, but they are also savvy, and they know you probably are, too, and that you'll shop around. Once you have a list of prices, you are in a superior position for negotiating. At this point, it is a good idea to talk about how you will protect one another during the transaction process. Instead of using wire transfers or credit cards or online payment services like Paypal, you will likely want to use a mutually agreed upon financial institution.

3. Get a letter of credit.

When it comes to exporting anything, the letter of credit is pretty much the only way to go. What you have hear is an agreement acknowledged by one mutually respected bank that guarantees the receipt of product before the delivery of funds is finalized. The funds are kept in escrow, so the exporter knows the money is there, but he also knows it won't be his unless there is a delivery of the agreed upon item.

Doing business with a rattan furniture exporter is a great way to get the best indoor and outdoor furniture available. But before you do business with just anyone, make sure you have taken the necessary precautionary steps for protecting yourself. Five Tips to Make Lamination Easier Than Ever Business Articles | February 17, 2012
Laminating your documents and other materials is not that hard to do, no matter if you're using a pouch or roll laminator. However, you can make the process easier and keep your machine in good shape by following these five tips:

Laminating your documents and other materials isn't that hard to do, no matter if you're using a pouch or roll laminator. However, you can make the process easier and keep your machine in good shape by following these five tips:

Give the machine time to warm up. Unfortunately, most laminators need to warm up a bit before they can be used. This is true of both pouch and roll laminators, and warm-up times vary quite a bit. (Consult your machine's instruction manual to find out how long it needs to warm up.) If you want to save time, you should let the machine warm up while you're doing something else. That way, you can begin laminating when you're ready.

Consider using a carrier. If you have a pouch laminator, you should really consider using a carrier during operation. A carrier not only helps keep the document flat as it's being laminated, it prevents adhesive from leaking into the laminator. Adhesive build-up can cause pouch jams and it can damage the laminator over time. If the damage is extensive enough, you might need to replace your machine. So using a carrier is a great idea.

Keep it clean. Just about every machine needs to be maintained and that's also true of laminators. Roll laminators need to be cleaned on regular basis using water and a soft scrubbing sponge. Cleaning the machine's rollers makes it easier to laminate and it ensures you'll be able to laminate for a long time to come. Cleaning a pouch laminator is a bit trickier. Some people using cleaning sheets that can be run right through the device. And there are some pouch laminators that open up like a printer, allowing the user to clean the rollers directly. Your laminator's instruction manual will contain explicit instructions regarding cleaning, so be sure to check it out.

Pay attention to filmpouch thickness. The thickness of laminating film and pouches is something that can't be ignored. Thickness is measured in mils, which is equal to 0.001th of an inch. Thinner filmspouches will allow your document to be flexible while thicker filmspouches will make your document more sturdy. Keep in mind that each laminator can usually only handle certain thicknesses, so check the instruction manual to see which ones will work for you.

Use common sense. Finally, it's important to use common sense when laminating. This includes not laminating certain items (i.e. three-dimensional objects), following any safety rules listed in the instruction manual, and so on. You should also make sure .
